The BCD Library becomes part of the Documentation Centre

The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona has completed the incorporation of the Barcelona Centre de Disseny (BCD) Library collections into its Documentation Centre, which were entrusted to the Centre after a donation agreement was signed between the BCD and the Barcelona Culture Institute.

This incorporation has led to an increase in the museum’s library collections of almost 3,000 copies of books specialising in Design, in all of its fields, and a complete collection of magazines and an exclusive sample of catalogues from companies located in our region.

The documents date from between 1926 and the present day, with the majority of publications from the 90s. Publications on subjects such as design thinking, 3D printing, ecodesign, service design, design management, trends, promotion and economic aspects of design, as well as material related to the National Design Awards and historic publications of the BCD are particularly noteworthy.

Now that this document processing and cataloguing process, which began during the period before the museum moved to its new headquarters, is complete, the new Documentation Centre is able to make it available for consultation by specialist groups (design students, professionals and researchers).

In order to celebrate the incorporation of the library collections, the BCD and the Documentation Centre organised an exclusive tour yesterday for members of the BCD Business Club, who were given a first-hand insight into the contents of the centre. The event, attended by Pilar Vélez, director of the Museu del Disseny, and Pau Herrera, president of the BCD, also included a guided tour of the museum.
